She Chased Wealth and Found Unexpected Love in Flight

My friends often label me as an opportunist. Initially, I found it insulting, but I've come to embrace it. If you want to achieve your desires, you need to seize opportunities, and if that makes me an opportunist, then so be it.

At some point in my life, I decided I wanted to date someone who could provide a decent lifestyle. I knew where to find such individuals: business seminars, luxury hotels, airports, and buffets.

I attended numerous seminars and events in hopes of catching the attention of someone from that circle. Unfortunately, it didn’t pan out. I spent my last savings just to mingle in the pools of those five-star hotels, but no one noticed me.

I devised a new plan. I saved a bit each month to afford flights from Kumasi to Accra at least once a month. After all, wealthy men travel by air, right?

On one particular flight from Kumasi to Accra, I was already seated when he arrived. He was handsome and had a great scent. “Hello,” he greeted. I replied, “Hello.”

Nothing remarkable at first.

But then he began to engage me in conversation, asking questions. I responded and reciprocated with my own inquiries. It was casual. Upon arriving in Accra, he asked, “Can I have your number? We could chat more.”

I gave him my number, and he handed me his business card, as is customary.

He called me later and asked me out on a date. We went out again, and again. He made me smile and laugh.

On December 24th last year, he asked, “Would you be my girlfriend?” I replied, “Yes, of course! Why not?” He said, “Thank you for making it easy.” We both chuckled.

The following day, he texted me, “What would you like for Christmas?” I responded, “You!” He replied with laughing emojis, but deep down, all I truly wanted for Christmas was a car!
