How a Wedding Ring Exposed a Married Cheater

After surviving heartbreak caused by a married man, a woman spots another suspicious husband removing his wedding ring before meeting a date. Her intervention saves an unsuspecting woman from deception and betrayal.

How a Wedding Ring Exposed a Married Cheater

The toughest breakup I’ve ever faced was with Abeku. It struck me like lightning when one of his friends said, “I think it’s better you know the truth and make your own decision rather than cling to the false hope my friend is giving you. He’s been married for almost two years now. His wife is away because she’s studying in the Netherlands.”

I didn’t want to accept it. He had shown me wedding photos and even videos from his phone of him exchanging vows with his wife. I believed I had found the man who would be my husband. After dating for nearly a year, he called me ‘Wifee.’

When I confronted him, his only excuse was, “I thought you would say no if you knew I was married.” Such selfishness!

It was tough afterward, but I managed to get through it. I dealt with my pain with a sense of pride, knowing I hadn’t done anything wrong. My only mistake was believing in a deceitful man’s lies. Life goes on.

One evening, I was waiting for my friends at the mall. I arrived earlier than planned, so I decided to wait in the car and listen to some music instead of going inside to watch people pass by. Shortly after, a sleek Benz parked next to my car. Moments later, a man stepped out.

I took a good look at him because he was exactly my type. Well-dressed with a confident aura, but as soon as I noticed the wedding ring on his finger, my heart sank. He walked several steps toward the mall entrance before stopping abruptly.

He returned to his car, got in, and a few seconds later, came back out. He headed toward the mall again. For some reason, I couldn’t help but follow his movements. I glanced at his finger again, and this time, the ring was gone. “Hmm, the ring is missing. This man is up to no good. Why would he come back just to take off his ring?” I thought.

I turned off my engine and walked behind him into the mall. He was talking on his phone the entire time, likely asking his date where she was seated. I followed him until he reached a table where a beautifully dressed woman was waiting. They hugged, laughed, and embraced again.

I took a seat a few meters away and kept an eye on them. I wanted to confirm what was happening. As a woman, I know how a woman behaves around a man she’s dating.

Her closeness, ease, and constant touching of him gave everything away. She was his girlfriend—his unsuspecting victim.

My friends call me a drama queen, but I wasn’t going to let my love for drama ruin anyone’s night. I also felt that God had led me to that moment because I could save another soul from a man’s deceit. It was divine intervention, and I had to act.

I got up and approached their table with a wide smile. Looking at the man, I said, “Hello, nice to meet you. Sorry to interrupt, but may I have a word with her?” He smiled back, glanced at the woman, sensing her confusion, and said, “I hope there’s no problem.” I replied, “No, not at all. She’s someone I know, but it’ll take a while for her to remember me, so I’ll excuse you.” They both laughed.

The girl followed me aside, and I broke the news to her: “Look, I don’t know you, but a drama just unfolded before my eyes, and I thought you should know. The guy in front of you is married. He parked next to my car and came out wearing a wedding ring. He went back in and returned without it. I followed him here, and lo and behold, he was coming to meet you.”

She was shocked. “Are you sure about what you’re saying?” she asked. “I’m absolutely certain of what I saw. I can even take you to his car.” She couldn’t stay still, as if something was burning in her chest. It was the same feeling I had when Abeiku’s friend told me about his marriage. She was restless and started talking rapidly. “I don’t know if I should believe you or not, but I’ll find out. We’ve been dating for four months now. I’m not saying he’s a saint, but it’s hard for me to believe you.”

I didn’t want to say too much. I wanted her to be smart and figure it out for herself. She asked for my number, and I gave it to her.

I didn’t return to my table because my friends called to say they had arrived. When I met them, I recounted the entire incident, and they were excited. They wanted to know if the girl found out, so we went to where they had been sitting, but they were gone. The night ended abruptly.

Two weeks later, I received a call, and the voice said, “Thank you for saving me. It could have been worse if not for your timely information.” I recognized it was her. I asked, “Were you able to find out?”

She replied, “Yes, that evening when you told me, I couldn’t handle the situation well, so he got angry and drove off. Three days later, he called to apologize and questioned why I would believe a stranger’s story, but it was too late. I had gathered all the information confirming he was married. The sad part is, his marriage is only seven months old. That means we started dating when his marriage was just three months old.”

Selfish men! Greedy men! They want everything for themselves, even when they have the best right in front of them. Today, that stranger I met at the mall is now a sister to me. She has become an integral part of our group. As I write this, she’s comfortably lounging on a sofa, watching a movie and providing commentary. If only she knew I was writing her story…
