We were doing long distance, but I'd see her at least twice a month, sometimes more. One visit, she mentioned her period was late. We got some tests, and the next morning, they were positive. We stayed in, just talking about what to do.
She said she’d think about not having the baby if I didn’t want to be a dad. I told her, no way. It was a surprise, but it was our choice. We decided I’d do the naming ceremony after the baby was born.
It wasn’t all about the baby; I loved her badly and wanted to get married. We were going to wait a year, but things changed.
Once the naming ceremony was done, I visited every weekend. I was happy and thankful we were okay, and our relationship was still good.
One day, I bumped into an old friend, and we got to talking. My girlfriend's name came up. He asked if I was the one who got her pregnant.
The question bothered me, but he didn’t say any more. He passed it off as a random question. It didn’t seem like anything, but it felt weird.
That night, I looked through her phone for the first time. I looked up pregnant, and a bunch of messages popped up. My name was there since we talked about it, but there were two other numbers I didn’t know. It looked like she had tried to get those two guys to get involved, too.
Both of them turned her down. One did the math and said it couldn’t be his, but he gave her money for an abortion. The other guy laughed, thinking it was a joke. He even went with her to the hospital for a test, which said she was pregnant. He said it couldn’t be his because he used a condom last time.
They argued about how it could have happened. The messages were strange and confusing. It looked like the guy gave her money for an abortion, but she didn’t do it because I said I’d take responsibility.
I was crushed. I was shaking, totally destroyed. It was too much. I went to her calmly and asked her to tell the truth. First, she said she was just trying to scare those guys. Then, she said she fooled around with them, but I was the real father, and she was just kidding with them.
I thanked her for telling the truth and left. After thinking for a while, I called her mom and told her everything. Her dad called to know what was going on, and I told him I wasn’t denying it wasn’t my kid. It could be, so I’d wait until she had the baby. If it’s mine, I’ll support the kid, but I won’t marry her.

Her dad didn’t say much, but her mom kept asking for forgiveness. She said she had prayed about it and thought the kid was mine, telling me to forgive her and go on with the wedding because everybody makes mistakes.
The wedding’s off, no matter what. For now, I’m acting like she’s having my kid. I send her money, visit when I can, get her groceries, pay her hospital bills, and buy her medicine. I do all this because she’s not a bad person. She cheated, and I can’t forgive that.
