He Walked Out During Our First Date Because Of A Meal

All around the world, there is an ever-growing sentiment for peace and which gives the phrase "Peace and Love" an acceptable connotation.

He Walked Out During Our First Date Because Of A Meal

Lameck and I had been communicating for a while, and he often talked about wishing to take me on a proper romantic date. The whole thing took a long time for us to get it done considering my busy lifestyle. Consequently, I was really excited about the date because it meant the end of the texting stage, and we would be able to choose whether our relationship would go further or not. Although I was not sure about the result, I was hoping for a great time.

I picked a nice outfit and applied a nice perfume before going. Upon entering, Lameck was oozing confidence and charisma. The waiter presented the menu after a bit of casual chatting. I went through the menu and chose the dish that I had already picked out in my mind.

Lameck called the waiter to come over when we were ready to place our order. He requested rice with grilled chicken, and the waiter wrote it down and then turned to me, saying, “And you, madam?”

I decided to go for a dish that I really love: swallow. I said, “I’ll have eba with ogbono soup, please.” Lameck looked at me with one eyebrow raised, as if saying, “Are you really serious?” I was indeed very serious. I absolutely love eba.

He changed his expression completely when the food came and he saw my plate. He was looking at me with a frown throughout my eating. Finally, he asked, “Why did you get swallow? You’re too local for me.”

I was a bit shocked at first. After I got my poise back, I answered in a soft tone, “I am a Nigerian woman; I won’t act as if I were somebody else. Besides, eba is much more filling than rice for me. It helps me to go on through the day, while rice makes me hungry pretty soon after.”

He did not get my answer at all. He looked at me as if I had just made the most outrageous statement. Then he paid the bill and exited in a huff. I could not believe it when I saw how angrily he left.

At this point, I am pondering the question, was I really that local, as he put it? Should I have asked him about what to order before making my decision? I don’t think I have done anything wrong by being myself and ordering what I like.
